Shannon Beador of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” and her husband, David Beador, who owns a construction company, are selling their home in Newport Coast’s Crystal Cove for $12.9 million.
Built in 2012, the 13,306-square-foot residence is set behind wrought-iron gates on three-quarters of an acre. The home has six bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, in addition to a separate one bedroom, two-bathroom guest house.
Spanning four levels, the main house includes a subterranean, indoor basketball half court as well as underground parking for 11 cars.
A soaring entry foyer, with black-and-white, checkered stone flooring, includes a formal coat check.
The home includes a piano room, elevator, gourmet and catering kitchens, a 12-seat theater, Calacatta marble counters and floors and a gym. A hidden room behind a set of bookshelves, typically dubbed a panic room, was made into a hideaway children’s tea room. The couple have three daughters.
Shannon Beador said she likes heirlooms so much that fellow Bravo reality TV star Jeff Lewis, an interior designer, has advised her, “You need to get rid of the ‘grandma.’”
That would include 64 sconces and 58 light fixtures, by her count, most of them antiques.
But, she said, “I love chandeliers. I love marble.”
Viewers of the show, where Beador has talked about her holistic lifestyle, won’t be surprised to learn the house was built and finished with nontoxic materials and has solid wood paneling, organic wallpaper, clean-air technology and a purified water system throughout. Even the furniture is eco-friendly.
“I wanted to make it the healthiest home possible,” she said.
Grounds include a swimming pool and spa, outdoor kitchen, a trellised garden pathway and a putting green.
The house has peek-a-boo views of the Pacific Ocean. A crow’s nest office tower on what amounts to a fifth level takes in an expanse of the community, water and coastline.
